Compete for points, prizes, and bragging rights in our inaugural league!
Every Thursday in February, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Harp & Fiddle in Park Ridge will be transformed into a Mahjong battleground (in the friendliest way possible, of course!).
We’re kicking off our inaugural Season 1 League with an informational meeting to bring our community together, review league details, and make sure everyone feels confident before play begins. During this session, we’ll go over how to keep score, answer questions, and set the tone for a fun and competitive season. As a member, you’ll have full access to the league — the perfect opportunity to test your skills, track your progress, and compete for prizes while connecting with fellow Mahjong enthusiasts.
Scoring System: Points are awarded based on the rules below. Scores will be kept at each table during play and turned in at the end of the night.
When you Mahjong, you receive the point value of your line.
If you draw your own tile for Mahjong (including a Joker swap), add +10 points.
If you Mahjong without using a Joker (excluding singles and pairs), double your score.
If you discard a tile that lets another player Mahjong, it’s –10 points per exposure of the winner.
If you have a wall game, there are no wins — each player receives 10 points.
Other Rules:
A Joker may never be passed during the Charleston. If it is, it must be returned.
Once a tile has been named correctly or touches the table, it cannot be taken back for a Joker exchange. Down is down — a tile laid down is a tile played.
A discarded Joker can never be picked up; it’s considered a dead tile.
Good sportsmanship is a must. Keep it friendly and cheer each other on!
